HC Deb 04 November 1929 vol 231 cc610-1
77. Captain CAZALET

asked the First Commissioner of Works with what stone it has been finally decided to continue the work of refacing the Houses of Parliament; and whether it has been decided to reface the whole building or only those parts where it is urgently needed?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Lansbury)

With reference to the first part of the question, may I refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Wolverhampton East (Mr. Mander) on the 1st instant. As regards the latter part of the question, the restoration work will be confined largely to the reconstruction of free-standing features and to the replacement of defective stones in the main structure.

Captain CAZALET

Is there a sufficient supply of this stone for the purpose?

Mr. LANSBURY

I understand there is, certainly.
