HC Deb 04 November 1929 vol 231 cc585-6
29. Sir WILLIAM DAVISON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether British naval prize law is included in the reservation made by him from reference to the Court of International Justice of disputes with regard to questions which by international law fall exclusively within the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given on 31st October to the right hon. Member for South Croydon (Sir W. Mitchell-Thomson).

Sir W. DAVISON

Cannot the right hon. Gentleman say "Yes" or "No" whether the British naval prize law is reserved? The matter is of vital importance.

Mr. HENDERSON

I think it will be more easily explained in debate.

Sir W. DAVISON

Surely we can have "Yes" or "No," whether it has or has not been reserved? Perhaps the right hon. Gentleman will tell us one way or the other.

Mr. HENDERSON

The hon. Gentleman must allow me to answer the question.

Sir W. DAVISON

On a point of Order—

Mr. SPEAKER

The hon. Gentleman ought to realise by now that we very seldom get "Yes" or "No" to a question.
