HC Deb 04 November 1929 vol 231 c601
Mr. W. B. TAYLOR

(by Private Notice) asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that a large section of butchers in London have decided to boycott beef that bears either the English or the Scottish National Mark; that this action will have the effect of preventing the consumer from distinguishing between home and foreign beef exposed for sale in shops; and, if so, whether he will take action to protect the interests both of consumers and producers?

Mr. N. BUXTON

The answer to the first two parts of the question is in the affirmative. I consider that this action is to be deplored, and I am in consultation with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland on the subject.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

Are they not following the example of the War Office and the Admiralty?
