§ 11. Sir HARRY BRITTAINasked the Under-Secretary of State for India how many aerodromes there are in India suitable for landing and taking off by aeroplanes of the type which recently made a non-stop flight from England to Karachi; and where such aerodromes are situated?
§ Earl WINTERTONThe suitability of aerodromes for the purpose referred to depends on the fuel-load of the aeroplane at the time. For aeroplanes with moderate fuel-loads there are 91 such aerodromes in India, the names of which can be furnished to my hon. Friend if desired. I am, however, unable to state how many of these would be suitable for aircraft carrying such heavy fuel-loads as that carried by the aeroplane which recently made a non-stop flight from England to Karachi.
§ Sir H. BRITTAINMay we take it then that there are 91 aerodromes which are quite satisfactory to the Air Ministry?
§ Earl WINTERTONYes, Sir. That is so.
