HC Deb 13 March 1929 vol 226 c1105
10. Sir BASIL PETO

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can now give the result of the representations he has made to the Colombian Government on the subject of the arrest of the captain and crew of the British steamer "Tritonia"; whether they have been released; and what is the nature of the charge made against them?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

The captain, officers and crew of the "Tritonia" were detained by the Colombian authorities for the purpose of an inquiry into the cause of and responsibility for the explosion. The crew were allowed to leave Buenaventura on 7th March, and the captain and officers on 8th March.
