HC Deb 13 March 1929 vol 226 c1105
61. Sir CLEMENT KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether he can give the House any information with regard to the situation of the German-South African Commercial Treaty; and when the provisions will come into force?

The SECRETARY of STATE for DOMINION AFFAIRS (Mr. Amery)

I have no recent information with regard to the position beyond that which has appeared in the Press. As has already been explained in reply to previous questions, the provisions of the Treaty do not come into force until the exchange of ratifications.

Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the Treaty has yet been submitted to the Senate of the Union?

Mr. AMERY

I saw that in the Press, but it is not a matter with which I am concerned.
