HC Deb 13 March 1929 vol 226 cc1100-1
3. Mr. HARRIS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if the British Government has made any agreements with any foreign country since 1918, for mutual defence or other purposes, of which Parliament has not been advised or which has not been deposited with the League of Nations?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir.

Mr. SAKLATVALA

Do we understand that if there were a secret treaty the right hon. Gentleman would ever divulge it? If there were a secret agreement, would the right hon. Gentleman enter into it and deposit it with the League of Nations?

Sir A. CHAMBERLAIN

His Majesty's Government will not enter into secret agreements of this kind.
