HC Deb 04 March 1929 vol 226 c22
44. Mr. DAY

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that women police attached to some of the provincial police forces have been supplied with motor cycles; and whether any of the women police in the Metropolitan Police area are being supplied with them?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir William Joynson-Hicks)

I understand that some county police women use motor cycles for purposes of their duty. Motor cycles are not supplied to women in the Metropolitan District.

Mr. DAY

Is the right hon. Gentleman watching the experiment of the county police authorities to see whether it would not be beneficial in London?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

An up-to-date Office like the Home Office watches all these things.
