HC Deb 04 March 1929 vol 226 c22
48. Mr. DAY

asked the Home Secretary what amount of money he is reclaiming in the actions commenced against ex-Sergeant Goddard following instructions issued by his Department?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to his question on Thursday last.

Mr. DAY

Is there any reason why these figures of the amount the Government is claiming cannot be given?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

Very shortly, we shall be issuing a full statement, and I will consider then whether it is possible to publish them.

Mr. DAY

Is there any truth in the Press report that a further large secret hoard has been discovered by the police?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I do not think that either the hon. Member or myself can always rely on Press reports.
