§ 52. Colonel HOWARD-BURYasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury why, seeing that under the Superannuation Act, 1887, temporary civil servants who are dismissed are entitled to a gratuity of one week's pay for each year's service, the Treasury are now ruling that the seven years referred to are to commence not earlier than 31st August, 1921, with the result that all those dismissed prior to 31st August, 1928, receive no gratuity, and that ex-service men who joined the Civil Service in 1919 upon demobilisation and have been dismissed in July, 1928, have been refused a grant; and whether he will reconsider these cases of hardship?
Mr. SAMUELI would refer my hon. and gallant Friend to my replies to the right hon. Gentleman the Member for West Bromwich (Mr. F. O. Roberts) on the 19th December and 19th February last, copies of which I am sending him.
