HC Deb 04 March 1929 vol 226 c29
52. Mr. DAY

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the amount received by the Treasury for stamp duties on policies issued by insurance companies for the 12 months ended to the last convenient date, giving the numbers of the policies so issued?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Arthur Michael Samuel)

The net receipt of Stamp Duty on insurance policies of all kinds (life, fire, accident, etc.) was £294,101 for the year ended 31st March, 1928. It is not possible to state the number of policies so stamped.

Mr. DAY

Could the hon. Gentleman give me the figures, if I put down a question, as to the number of industrial policies?

Mr. SAMUEL

No, I do not think it is possible to give the figures.
