HC Deb 22 July 1929 vol 230 c913
79. Lieut.-Colonel GRANT MORDEN

asked the Minister of Labour whether, when she published her decision to ratify the Washington Eight Hours Treaty, she had taken the advice of the Law Officers of the Crown?

When the Government came to their decision in this matter they were aware that, as is well known, it would be necessary to introduce legislation amending the existing law, and there was, therefore, no occasion to consult the Law Officers at that stage. In framing the necessary legislation, the Government will, of course, have the assistance of the Law Officers.
