asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he proposes to establish machinery for the bulk purchase of meat and wheat?

Perhaps my hon. Friend would allow me to defer a statement till I am able to make a general announcement on the agricultural policy of the Government.

Will the right hon. Gentleman say what is approximately the date when that statement will be made?

In the autumn, at the earliest possible opportunity.
