HC Deb 28 January 1929 vol 224 c594
32. Mr. A. M. WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Agriculture how many cases of foot-and-mouth disease occurred in 1927 and 1928; and whether any fresh sources of infection have been discovered?

Mr. GUINNESS

The number of separate premises on which foot-and-mouth disease was confirmed during 1927 and 1928 was 143 and 138 respectively. 72 of the 138 outbreaks in 1928 were, however, directly due to the spread of infection originating in the Midlands during December, 1927. No new sources of infection have been discovered.
