HC Deb 18 February 1929 vol 225 c776
41. Mr. KELLY

asked the Secretary for Mines the number of inspections made by his officers during 1928 at the New Lount Colliery?

The SECRETARY for MINES (Commodore Douglas King)

During 1928, nine inspections were made, of which eight were underground and one on the surface.

Mr. KELLY

Is this not an exceptionally small number of visits to pay to this colliery, in view of the accidents which have taken place there?

Commodore KING

No, Sir. I think the hon. Member will find that it is about the average number of visits.
