Mr. GUINNESSI understand that proposals have been made for the formation of a trade association embracing all branches of the herring industry, but I have no reason for believing that any operations are intended which would reduce profitable employment or discourage the catching of marketable fish.
§ Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHYIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that all round the east coast of England and Scotland the herring fishing has stopped by the orders of this ring before the season is ended, and will he look into a matter that is so serious for the fishermen?
Mr. GUINNESSI shall look into it, but the chief object of the association, I presume, is to try to increase the supply of fish.
