§ 6. Captain GARRO-JONESasked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that Dutch aircraft have been flying from Calcutta to Bangkok without alighting at Rangoon en route; whether there is an aerodrome at Rangoon; and, if not, whether this is the reason why this large town is passed over by commercial aircraft?
§ Earl WINTERTONThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative and to the second part in the negative. The Rangoon racecourse was used as a landing-ground by permission of its owners until about the beginning of 758 November last when they withdrew that permission. The Government of India propose to establish a civil aerodrome at Rangoon when funds are available, which it is hoped will be the case during the financial year beginning next April.
