HC Deb 17 December 1929 vol 233 c1196
41. Mr. DAY

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can state the reason why his Department has re fused to register for quota purposes under the Cinematograph Films Act, 1927, the film entitled a Song of London, which is a five-reel film of 7,000 feet, made by a British company in London with an entirely British caste of artistes?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

I have this matter under consideration.

Mr. DAY

Will my right hon. Friend also consider that the non-registration of this film, made by a small British company, may mean a very serious handicap to this company?

Mr. GRAHAM

That is part of the material before me in the case.

Mr. DAY

Will my right hon. Friend allow one of his representatives or the Advisory Committee to see the film before coming to a decision?

Mr. GRAHAM

I understand that the Advisory Committee have already expressed an opinion on the film.
