HC Deb 30 April 1929 vol 227 cc1384-5
48. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what have been the total payments in cash, as distinct from payments in kind, made by Germany to the Allies to date on account of reparations?

The total cash payments in foreign currencies (as distinct from payments in kind) made by or for account of Germany to the Allies for reparation and cost of occupation from the Armistice to 31st March, 1929, amount to 3,646 million gold marks (£182 millions at par). This figure does not include the payments received under the Reparation Recovery Levy which are technically payments in kind.
