HC Deb 18 April 1929 vol 227 c406
69. Mr. DUNCAN

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will take steps to secure a reconsideration of the employment of a messenger for a continuous 24 hours' duty at the Horse Guards on Sundays; and whether he will take steps to arrange for consultation with the messenger staff with a view to a shorter Sunday duty being arranged, mutually acceptable both to the department and the staff concerned?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Duff Cooper)

No representations have been received from the messengers that the present method of allocating Sunday duty, which was their choice, is no longer acceptable to them. I will arrange to have their views ascertained and carefully considered.
