HC Deb 29 November 1928 vol 223 c595
45. Sir F. HALL

asked the Prime Minister whether, as a preliminary to any further discussion of the question of naval disarmament by the League of Nations, the Government will consider inviting the French and American Governments to participate in a conference with Great Britain on the subject so far as it concerns their respective countries?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Baldwin)

His Majesty's Government are carefully considering what steps can usefully be taken to promote agreement with regard to the further limitation of naval armaments. I doubt whether the specific expedient suggested by my hon. and gallant Friend would be likely to attain the object which he has in view.
