HC Deb 12 November 1928 vol 222 c494
60. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Postmaster-General the steps that have been taken by his Department to make known the advantages of the cash-on-delivery system?

Viscount WOLMER

The cash-on-delivery services have received wide publicity in the Press and elsewhere, and have been advertised by the exhibition of posters at all Post Offices and by the distribution of descriptive pamphlets. The railway cash-on-delivery service, introduced a few months ago, has been widely advertised by the railway companies also.

Lieut.-Colonel HENEAGE

Is my Noble Friend satisfied with the progress of the cash-on-delivery system in rural areas, as far as the postal service is concerned?

Viscount WOLMER

Yes, Sir. The service has shown a steady increase ever since it was inaugurated, and now amounts to 2,000,000 parcels a year.
