HC Deb 23 May 1928 vol 217 cc1889-90
90. Mr. HASLAM

asked the Home Secretary whether he is now prepared to make a statement as to what action he is prepared to take on the question of the legality of whist drives and fun-fair games and sports?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

The effect of the recent decision regarding whist drives is still under consideration, and I am not yet in a position to make any statement. All I should like to say at the moment is that my Department has taken no action in this matter, the police having acted in the discharge of their ordinary duties to enforce the law. As regards all the matters referred to in the question I hope to be able to make a statement after the Recess.
