HC Deb 16 May 1928 vol 217 c1019
21. Lieut.-Colonel FREMANTLE

asked the Minister of Labour if he can state approximately the number of persons who have lost their employment through becoming deafened in youth or adult life; and what provisions are available for training such persons, when necessary, in new occupations suitable to their deafened condition?

Mr. BETTERTON

I regret that I have no information regarding the matters raised in my hon. and gallant Friend's question.

Lieut.-Colonel FREMANTLE

Is it possible to get some information with regard to the scope of training institutions being extended so as to include deaf persons?

Mr. BETTERTON

Yes, Sir. I can give the hon. and gallant Gentleman information with regard to the training centres, but I am afraid it does not include deaf persons.
