§ 32. Mr. JOHNSTONasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the Camoquhil Road, leading from the Balfron-Stirling Road to the Balfron Station Road, is not scheduled as a public road and has to be privately repaired, although it is the essential access to four farms and is a through road; whether other roads in the neighbourhood, which lead only to private property, are maintained at public expense; and whether he will take the steps necessary to have the Camoquhil Road recommended for schedule as a public road?
§ Sir J. GILMOURI have been asked to reply. I am informed that the Stirling County Road Board considered an application that the road referred to in the 850 question should be placed on the list of highways and declined to recommend it to the county council on the ground that the road is a private service road with little if any public traffic and that there are no other roads in the neighbourhood leading only to private property which are maintained at public expense. The determination of the question whether a road should be added to the county list of highways is vested by Statute in the local authority, and I have no power to interfere with them in the exercise of their responsibility.
