HC Deb 01 May 1928 vol 216 cc1521-2
57. Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Postmaster-General whether, having regard to the conclusions arrived at in the Hardman-Lever Report on the telegraph service, he has yet decided what steps to take in order to carry out the general recommendations of that Report?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Bedford (Mr. Wells) on the 27th of March.

Sir R. THOMAS

Is the right hon. Gentleman not aware that his answer is very unsatisfactory, and can he not give a promise that the result will be known very soon?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

I am not aware that my answers are ever unsatisfactory.

Sir R. THOMAS

Can the right hon. Gentleman not give us a reply which is more definite than the last answer which he gave to the House, and say when that conclusion will be made known?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

I said in my last answer that certain matters will be given effect to and that others were under consideration. I am at this moment receiving representations from various quarters, and next week I am meeting a deputation from the Press. As long as these matters are under consideration, I cannot give a more definite answer.
