asked the Home Secretary the number of fatal accidents that occurred in the streets of the Metropolitan police area for the 12 months ended to the last convenient date, and the number of these accidents that were directly due to motor cars?

During the 12 months ending on 31st December last, there were 1,056 fatalities caused by vehicles in the streets of the Metropolitan police district, and of these 828 were attributed to motor vehicles other than motor cycles.
