§ 61. Mr. CHARLES EDWARDSasked the Secretary for Mines whether any accidents have occurred through shot-firing where the imperial shield for detonators has been in use; and, if so, how many and where?
§ The SECRETARY for MINES (Commodore Douglas King)My information is that shielded detonators are being used at only one colliery in the country. At that colliery there have been no shot-firing accidents for several years past—a record which, I am glad to say, is equalled at a number of other collieries where unshielded detonators are used.
