HC Deb 22 March 1928 vol 215 c560
61. Mr. CHARLES EDWARDS

asked the Secretary for Mines whether any accidents have occurred through shot-firing where the imperial shield for detonators has been in use; and, if so, how many and where?

The SECRETARY for MINES (Commodore Douglas King)

My information is that shielded detonators are being used at only one colliery in the country. At that colliery there have been no shot-firing accidents for several years past—a record which, I am glad to say, is equalled at a number of other collieries where unshielded detonators are used.
