Mr. CHAMBERLAINWith my hon. Friend's permission, I will circulate in the OFFICIAL REPORT the figures which have been supplied to me by the guardians.
§ Following are the figures:
§ The number of persons in receipt of relief in the parish of Poplar Borough at the commencement of this month was 26,422. At the corresponding date in 1913, the number was 7,167. I am unable to state the number of cases in which relief was given on account of unemployment, but the number of able-bodied persons and their dependants was in March, 1928, 10,274, and in March, 1913, 306.
