§ The MINISTER of HEALTH (Mr. Chamberlain)The total amount outstanding in respect of loans advanced on the recommendation of the Goschen Committee to boards of guardians in England and Wales was £7,260,950 on 31st March, 1927, and is £7,090,214 at the present date. It is expected that a further sum of £189,665 will be repaid by the 31st instant.
Commander WILLIAMSHas the right hon. Gentleman sufficient power to. check the more extravagant of these authorities, and is he using his powers to the fullest amount?
