Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe amounts paid in out-relief in money and kind by boards of guardians in England and Wales to persons ordinarily engaged in some regular occupation and their dependants during the years 1924, 1925, 1926 and 1927 were £5,360,000, £5,600,000, £14,980,000 and £7,320,000, respectively. Figures based on the classification of "able-bodied" persons are not available.
