HC Deb 22 March 1928 vol 215 cc566-7
74. Mr. PILCHER

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is aware that an exhibition of dry bulbs is contemplated in Cornwall next August; and whether, in view of the increase of imported foreign bulbs from 254,000,000 in 1925 to 384,000,000 in 1927, he will assist the Cornwall county authorities through the Empire Marketing Board?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Amery)

I had not previously heard of the exhibition to which my hon. Friend refers; if he will send particulars to the Empire Marketing Board I shall, of course, be glad to have the matter considered.

Mr. PILCHER

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that, owing to the pro- hibition of the American Government on the importation of dry bulbs, our bulb market here is very much open to attack and stands in need of his assistance?

Mr. AMERY

I am not aware of that fact at all.
