HC Deb 14 June 1928 vol 218 c1149
32. Mr. CONNOLLY

asked the Minister of Health whether he can give figures as to the proportion of children suffering from tuberculosis, anæmia and glandular trouble at some recent convenient date, and at the corresponding date at intervals of two years, during the last 20 years; and what steps he proposes to take to investigate the extent to which these conditions are due to the want of proper and sufficient food?

The MINISTER of HEALTH (Mr. Chamberlain)

As regards the first part of the question, I am having a statement prepared giving such information as is available, which I will send to the hon. Member as soon as possible. As regards the second part of the question, while adequate nutrition is an important factor in increasing resistance to disease, there are many other factors which may contribute to the conditions named, and I do not consider that an investigation would serve any useful purposes.
