HC Deb 27 February 1928 vol 214 cc32-3
53. Mr. GRIFFITHS

asked the Minister of Pensions the numbers of persons at all ages, over 60 and over 65, in receipt of the main categories of war pension; whether any estimate of future numbers is available; and the present and future estimated cost?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of PENSIONS (Lieut.-Colonel Stanley)

The number of pensioners (exclusive of wives and children of pensioners) is approximately 1,004,000, of whom 987,000 are adults. I have, however, no statistics as to the age groups specified. The estimated expenditure of my Department for the current year is £61,492,000.
