HC Deb 27 February 1928 vol 214 c5
18. Mr. RAMSDEN

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether any substantial progress has been made in the growing of cotton for export in the Northern Territory, Gold Coast?

Mr. AMERY

Efforts have been made to establish cotton growing in the Northern Territories of the Gold Coast by free distribution of seed, a guaranteed purchase price and facilities for ginning. Hitherto, however, no substantial progress has been made owing to unfavourable climatic and transport conditions.
