§ Captain MARGESSONI have been asked to reply. The amounts of the grants made from the Road Fund during the year 1927–28 in respect of the expenditure on ordinary maintenance and repair of roads and bridges in Classes I and II are set out in Appendix 1 of the Report on the Administration of the Road Fund for that year, and the total estimated expenditure in Appendix 14. Paragraph 79 of the same Report shows the provisions made in the current year for grants towards major works of improvement on classified roads. Similar provisions were made for such works in the year 1927–28.
