Separate figures for pulmonary cases are not available, but on the 1st December there was a total of 2,541 persons who had been awaiting residential treatment for tuberculosis from local authorities in England and Wales for more than 10 days. On the same date the total number of patients receiving such treatment was in excess of 21,000.
