HC Deb 30 April 1928 vol 216 c1325
27. Mr. E. BROWN

asked the Minister of Labour how many insured persons in Scotland, Edinburgh, and Leith (Quality Street Exchange), respectively, failed to quality for unemployment benefit under the provisions of the new Act during the week ending 26th April, 1928?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of LABOUR (Mr. Betterton)

Statistics of disallowances of benefit have hitherto been compiled at monthly intervals, and it is proposed to continue this practice under the Unemployment Insurance Act, 1927. The first return under that Act will relate to the period 19th April to 14th May. I would suggest that the hon. Member should repeat his question about a fortnight after the latter date.
