HC Deb 03 April 1928 vol 215 c1778
64. Mr. A. V. ALEXANDER

asked the President of the Board of Education whether the approval of the Board of Education has been given to any proposal by the Abertillery local education authority to reduce the staff of their schools; and how many classes of over 50 there are in the area of the local authority?

Lord E. PERCY

I have discussed with the authority provisional plans for the reorganisation of their schools, which, if adopted, would, I think, enable reductions in the teaching staff to be made; but no specific proposals have yet been submitted by the authority for my approval. There are five classes in the area with over 50 children on the roll.
