HC Deb 03 April 1928 vol 215 cc1792-3
46. Viscount SANDON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Government intends to propose any legislative means to remove the imposition on co-partnership shares of Super-tax on dividends, as revealed in the recent case of Parsons v. the Inland Revenue in the Courts?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Arthur Michael Samuel)

I am not prepared to propose legislation on the point to which my Noble Friend refers.

Viscount SANDON

Is not this a case where the right hon. Gentleman could make a real contribution to industrial peace?

Mr. SAMUEL

It has been considered, and the Chancellor of the Exchequer is not in a position to fall in with my Noble Friend's suggestion.
