HC Deb 29 November 1927 vol 211 c234
7. Mr. SOMERVILLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade the proportion between the total quantity of bricks and tiles produced or used in this country and the quantity imported during the first nine months of the present year?

Captain HACKING

The number of bricks of brick earth or clay returned for purposes of the Third Census of Production as manufactured in Great Britain in 1924 was 4,184 millions and the quantity of tiles of all kinds was 574,000 tons. Corresponding figures for more recent periods are not available. With reference to the quantities imported this year, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave him on 23rd November.
