21. Mr. W. M. WATSONasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has had any representations made to him by the county council of Fife respecting the payment of grant for clerical assistance in connection with the issuing of housing bonds under the Housing and Town Planning, etc. (Scotland), Act, 1919, and the Local Authorities (Assisted Housing Schemes) Regulations (Scotland), 1919; and whether it is his intention to carry out the terms of the Housing Regulations and provide for all expenditure in excess of the four-fifths of ld. per £.
§ The SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Sir John Gilmour)Representations of the nature mentioned have been made to me, and have had my careful consideration. There is no provision such as is referred to in any regulation made under Section 5 of the Housing, Town Planning, etc. (Scotland), Act, 1919, but Article VII of the regulations, cited in the question, is to the effect that in any determination of the amount of the Exchequer subsidy payable, only expenditure approved by the Scottish Board of Health is entitled to rank.
