HC Deb 26 May 1927 vol 206 c2156
18. Colonel DAY

asked the President of the Board of Education if there are any open-air schools at present being built; can he give their location; and if his approval has been obtained for these buildings?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Duchess of Atholl)

Plans have been approved for new open-air schools in IIford, Leyton, Huddersfield, London (Bermondsey, Highgate, and Stepney), Cambridge, Bolton, Stretford, Portsmouth, and Broadstairs. These schools are, so far as I am aware, in course of erection. Proposals have been generally approved for new open-air schools at Ipswich, Dewsbury, Manchester, Sheffield, Smethwick, St. Helen's, and Cardiff; in these cases the plans of the buildings are now under consideration.

Colonel DAY

Have any complaints been received about applications being refused?

Duchess of ATHOLL

I cannot answer that question without notice.
