HC Deb 25 May 1927 vol 206 cc1994-5
25. Sir J. POWER

asked the Minister of Transport when the Electricity Board expect to commence the construction of the general inter-connection system?

Colonel ASHLEY

I may remind my hon. Friend that under the provisions of the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1926, the Central Electricity Board are not in a position to commence works in any area until a scheme has been adopted for that area, and that schemes can only be adopted after they have been received by the Board from the Electricity Commissioners and the Statutory procedure as to publication and consideration of objections has been carried out. In these circumstances, it is not yet possible to say at what date actual construction will begin.
