HC Deb 23 May 1927 vol 206 cc1651-2
57. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the President of the Board of Education whether any effort is being made to collect and safeguard films of historical interest; if so, where are they being stored; and what, approximately, is the number collected?

Mr. McNEILL

No attempt is being made to form a continuous collection of films of historical interest, though my hon. Friend will see from the reply given on the 16th February last to my hon. Friend the Member for Blackpool (Sir W. de Frece) that the list of films in the possession of Government Departments includes a number of war films and one or two other films which might be regarded as of historical value.

Sir H. BRITTAIN

Can anything be done to develop that system? It does not seem to do very much for posterity.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

Is the film of the Cabinet being kept, as one of historical interest?
