HC Deb 05 May 1927 vol 205 c1754
31. Lieut.-Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the arrangements made last year with the Irish Free State with regard to double Income Tax have been working satisfactorily; and whether any complaints have been received and any alterations are contemplated, or whether he proposes to carry on the present arrangements with the Free State indefinitely?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The double Income Tax arrangements with the Irish Free State are working satisfactorily, and I have no present intention of proposing any alteration of their basic principles. The introduction of the new scheme was inevitably attended by certain difficulties of procedure, which may have given rise to complaints but which are being dealt with effectively.
