HC Deb 04 May 1927 vol 205 cc1624-5
55. Mr. JOHNSTON

asked the Lord Advocate whether, in view of the fact that a county licensing court has granted a seven-day licence for premises which do not provide for apartments for travellers as required by the Licensing Act, and in view of the recent statement of Chief Constable. Keith, of Lanarkshire, that such licence is illegal, he will draw the attention of licensing magistrates to the Statute governing seven-day licences?

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. William Watson)

My attention has not previously been called to the matter referred to by the hon. Member and I am not aware that I have power to take any action in regard thereto.

Mr. JOHNSTON

May. I ask if the chief constable of the county does not in any way represent the Lord Advocate or his Department?

The LORD ADVOCATE

No, Sir. In no way at all.
