Mr. BETTERTON

I assume that the lion. Member refers to the duties undertaken by my Department in connection with the collation and payment of wages to dock workers at Liverpool and to the stamping of their health insurance cards and unemployment insurance books. The cost of these services during the last financial year was about £13,000, the whole of which was borne by the firms included in the scheme. The number of officials employed whole time was about 45, in addition to a number employed; or part time each week.
