asked the President of the Board of Education the number of elementary school children in 1926 in England and Wales who passed the necessary examination qualifying them for entry into a secondary school. and for how many such children were places found?

I am unable to supply the information for which the hon. Member asks. The total number of children who are recorded as having left public elementary schools in England and Wales during 1925–26, in order to attend secondary schools, was 34,227 boys and 28,000 girls.
