HC Deb 21 March 1927 vol 204 c31
64. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is able to give the House any information with regard to the present state of affairs in Nanking?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

The latest official report from Nanking shows that the Shantung troops are holding a line between points some 40 miles southwest and south-east of the city and are sending forward strong reinforcements. The same telegram reports that there is considerable nervousness and unrest among the Chinese population of Nanking.
